How we design business
websites.
At a WebPage Designer Adelaide we follow a strict web design procedure,
which takes into account quotation, design sample, site development,
testing and finally, website upload and maintenance. Below is the
procedure we use.
1. Quotation Process
From the first approach via email or by phone conversation the
website quotation process is all done via phone conversation and
by email. At this we do not need to meet our clients, unless requested
by the client.
Once a quotation request has been made, we evaluate the information
supplied and if need be call our client to extract more information
about the proposed website. With all the information gathered we
are than able to give an accurate estimation.
The first point of call with our estimation is to call the client
and verbally tell them the cost of the project and how we can develop
the site for them. They are then asked, if they would require a
written quotation.
If required a written quotation will be prepared outlining what
we understand as the clients website requirements, our interpretation
and payment details. This information is emailed to them in a Word
Document for their appraisal.
When confirmation is received by the client, a meeting may be organised
to discuss the project further.
- A deposit of 40% of our total estimation is paid into our Bank
Account.
2. Preliminary Design
Once the deposit is deposited into our Bank Account, work
begins on a preliminary design. This design is based on all the
information given to us by the client. This preliminary design will
be submitted to our client no later than 8 days after we have been
commissioned.
The preliminary design will be submitted online via our online
server for the clients appraisal. Feedback and changes can be made
by the client via email or phone, or by a personal meeting at the
clients company office. Any changes or re-designs will be done at
this time and re-submitted.
Once the preliminary design has been approved, all text and images
supplied by the client will be email or mailed to us on CD. We do
not accept hand written or typed text content unless suggested to
us prior to quotation.
3. Website Development Stage
With the preliminary design approved and all content and images
collected, the design process begins. A qualified designer will
be placed on the project and will be responsible for communication
with the client as well as the project manager. All project requirements
including coding will be noted and detailed by designer for communication
with the client.
A Work In Progress folder will be setup on our web servers, with
the address given to the client. This facility allows our clients
to watch their site being developed. As the designer adds and changes
things on the site, the client will be able to view this online.
This Work In Progress folder is secure and only my staff and my
client will be able to view it. The client at any stage can ask
for changes.
Once the design process including images and text inclusion is
complete, the client will be informed and asked to go through the
site, noting pages and look for corrections and changes, which they
would then pass back to our designer.
Our designer, once made all the corrections and changes requested
by my client, will pass the site onto me. I will thoroughly go through
the site testing every facet for mistakes and making corrections
as I go.
Once I pass the site as complete, I personally contact my client
and ask them to once again go through the site thoroughly looking
for corrections and changes. This process gives us 4 sets of eyes,
thus making mistakes unlikely.
When the client, designer and I are happy the site does and looks
exactly as the client requests, we will than upload the site to
a holding folder on our server.
4. Website Hosting and Sign Off Stage
Most of our clients are first time website owners and require a
complete package of website design and website hosting. We hold
the completed website in a Holding Folder on our server until a
hosting package has been setup for the client and all Domain Name
Delegations are complete.
Email accounts will be setup, forwarding all email made out to
the site forwarded to our clients email programs. In some projects
I will go to the clients place of business and setup the email software
myself, ensuring that any email sent from the site is received by
the client.
When the hosting and email accounts have been setup and are complete,
a final invoice is made out for final payment. On receipt of that
payment, the website will be transferred to our live server and
DNS activation will be completed and the site will go live.
5. Web Site Maintenance after Signing Off Stage
We provide our clients with 30 days of free website maintenance after
the website has been signed off. In this period corrections and mistakes
can be fixed at no charge to the client. However if changes need to
be made or extra content added, a fee of $45 per hour with a minimum
of one hour will be charged.
6. On going Website Maintenance
In most cases unless the client wishes to have a self managed
website developed, we will be commissioned to keep the website up
to date and fresh. For this service, to help cut down costs for
our clients and we charge a flat fee. This flat fee will be negotiated
at the time of quotation. But, if a client only wants the website
to be updated minimum, we charge an hourly rate of $45, with a minimum
of 1 hour charged.
